Dr. Sharon White-Lewis is an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City..Dr. White-Lewis presents locally, nationally, and internationally on topics such as equine-assisted therapy, leadership, laparoscopic surgery, robotics, nursing education, and simulation. Ms. White-Lewis was given the Rising Star of Research Award from Sigma Theta Tau International for her Systematic Review on Equine Therapy Intervention studies and has been chosen as a recipient of the 2016-2017 Jonas Scholarship Award. Dr. White-Lewis’ program of research focuses on equine-assisted therapy for adults with arthritis. She completed a funded randomized controlled trial: Equine-assisted therapy compared to exercise education for adults and older adults with arthritis and is currently conducting a prospective Adverse Event descriptive study involving Equine-assisted therapy centers in the United States. Dr. White-Lewis is consulting with the AINISE international association preparing to conduct a highly rigorous clinical trial.
